IDAHO - International Day Against Homophobia and TransphobiaWhat is IDAHOBIT?

On May 17 1990 the World Health Organisation (WHO) removed homosexuality as a mental illness in the International Classification of Diseases. On May 17 2005 marking 15 years to the day after that momentous event the first International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) took place.

The event was the brain-child of French Guyanan academic Louis-Georges Tin, and has been held annually since.

If you answered “yes”,  or thought to yourself “of course I do what a silly question!”; then you are probably not Transgender. For a transgender person it is very far from a silly or frivolous question, it is a matter of  personal safety.
